MySQL Migration Toolkit is not a single application, it is a collection of applications meant to convert data sources to MySQL databases and the other way around. MySQL to Access, Access to Oracle, Excel to MySQL, and all the other tools offered by the developer, they’re all bundled in MySQL Migration Toolkit. You have a total of 14 tools at your disposal you can use to convert your data to and from MySQL.

The MySQL Migration Toolkit installation file is 19.3MB in size. When you launch this application, a setup wizard shows up and guides your through the installation process. A few clicks later, you will be done with it all. You can access all the tools included in MySQL Migration Toolkit from the Start Menu, the Intelligent Converters folder.

As mentioned above, there are in all 14 tools you can use to convert your data to and from MySQL Migration Toolkit. And more to the point: Access-to-MySQL, DB2-to-MySQL, DBF-to-MySQL, Excel-to-MySQL, MSSQL-to-MySQL, Oracle-to-MySQL, PostgreSQL-to-MySQL, MySQL-to-Access, MySQL-to-DB2, MySQL-to-DBF, MySQL-to-Excel, MySQL-to-MSSQL, MySQL-to-Oracle, MySQL-to-PostgreSQL.

To make things as efficient as possible, a wizard will guide you through the conversion process. You will have no problems migrating a Microsoft Access database to the MySQL server or converting an MySQL database to Microsoft Access format, for example.

Please note that MySQL Migration Toolkit is only free to try: the trial will convert no more than five records for each database table. You will have to get a license to get rid of this limitation.

MySQL Migration Toolkit provides a nice selection of tools for converting data to and from MySQL.

Pros

Installing MySQL Migration Toolkit on a Windows-powered machine takes little time. There are 14 conversion tools to choose from. Several demos are available on the installation folder. A wizard will guide you through the conversion process. Command line support to script, automate, and schedule the conversion process.

Cons

The trial is limited to five records for each database table.
